June 2010 - AMWAY China rock the Anaheim Convention Center
With a multi-million dollar budget, there was never any doubt that this show would be huge... Actually, five shows!! Each week for five weeks, AMWAY China travelled about 2000 guests from mainland China for this extraordinary incentive show. After an explosive opening number featuring synchronised pyro and lighting effects, guests we're treated to a non-stop lineup of top acts. The Fab Four, shadow dancers of LeOmbre, Acrodunk, comedy pianist Mitchell Zeidweig, Michael Jackson tribute, and Chinese superstar A-Mei.
Event production company, Eventworks, brought Showgun Studio in early in pre-production to produce, direct, and TD the video elements for the show. With vendor partners DWP Live and LMG, the Showguns put together a 4 camera HD package including a jib, 5 screens with 20K HD projection, and a 60' F-11 LED wall as stage backdrop. Showgun Senior Director, James Armstrong called the cameras and video live for all five events.

With partner Radar Multimedia, Showgun Studio provided the Show Direction (Stage Management) for the huge general sessions.
It's not often you find an executive with enough chutspa to lead the dance in a 60 member opening number, but that's exactly what DirecTV CEO David Olsen did, culminating in a full ine CanCan!! He even dragged his twin James Olsen in for great illusion at the start. |

January 2010 - The 36th Annual People's Choice Awards
A flagship broadcast awards show on CBS, this years People's Choice Awards was held at the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. Hosted by Queen Latifa, it featured a forced perspective virtual set. With virtual worlds designed by Consortium Studio's, the virtual set was all encompassing, surrounding the entire theater from the camera's perspective. Our client, Background Images, brought Showgun Studio onboard to design and operate the screen control system. With a dozen Hypotizer media servers feeding unique content to each of 6 projection screens, 2 circular LED screens, 3 vertical projection screens..., it was no easy task. We opted for a 16 VP Encore system, with 6 cascading Avitech DVI Multiviewers to keep the preview/program in perspective with the set. Using a double widescreen Encore configuration, we built over 90 multi-layered presets with moves and transitions tailored for each segment of the show.
